Subject: FW: Papakura Rugby Football Club's Number 1 Field Relocation due to
Massey Park being Renovated 2009 to 2011
Map:Papakura Map.pdf
Hi all,
Attached is a plan that shows the relative location of Mansell Field to our
traditional home and Clubrooms Massey Park in Ron Keat Drive.
Papakura District Council is spending in excess of $5.5 Million in
renovating & improving the whole Massey Park complex. It affects & involves
four major stakeholders - Athletics, Rugby, Swimming & Tae Kwon Do.
Since last November Athletics & Rugby have been asked to make use of Mansell
Field until April 2011 for Rugby and October 2011 for Athletics.
A surveyed Grass Track & facilities have been in use during the summer.
Inside this we have now erected our Goal Posts, with the number 1 field
marked out.
Unfortunately the September 2009 fire in the Massey Park Grandstand has
meant those facilities are out of use. All Changing Facilities are inside
the Papakura High School grounds within the Gymnasium Building - four
separate lockable areas with two shower & toilet areas. A referees room is
also available along with a further shower back at Massey Park.
We are very fortunate to have these facilities so close at hand. We would
intend to make these our number 2 facilities once Massey Park is back to
full utilisation once more.
We ask that all visitors continue to park in & around Ron Keat Drive in 2010
so that players do not loose contact with our home ground venue. We will
ensure the gates or Clubrooms are open to allow access into Massey Park
where a quick stroll around the all weather running track will enable
everyone to cross Marne Road on to Mansell Field. After matches everyone can
then return to enjoy our normal club hospitality. We do need you all to
attend back at our Clubrooms after each match.
As the renovations continue each week we will all see the progress that will
restore Massey Park into what has always been regarded as one our Unions top
club venues.
There is a reminder that no Alcohol is permitted on Council grounds or
Public places in the Papakura District Council area. Thus our Licenced
Premises are there for all to enjoy each match day.
Like others who share School grounds & facilities there is to be no smoking
or drinking within the Papakura High School grounds or changing facilities.
Again we ask that this be respected by all users. We do not want 2010 to be
a year where our relationship with Papakura High School & the Papakura
District Council is upset by not following the rules & bylaws.
With our Centenary Year in 2012 we want to be able to continue providing
Rugby for those who enjoy the code so much.
We look forward to everyone helping make 2010 a another successful &
rewarding year for Papakura Rugby.
Please give Jeremy Chapman our new Delegate all the support & encouragement
as he takes on his new role.
Thanks & Regards
