Siale stays with Steelers
Steelers centre Siale Piutau has re-signed with the Counties Manukau Steelers for the next two years. Piutau who has represented the Union at all age grades since he was 15 years old plays for the Karaka Club and has recently been training with the Chiefs wider training group.
Piutau is a great asset to the Steelers squad and offers the team great leadership skills, experience and is well know for his great work ethic. The twenty five year old father of two said "My partner and I love this Union so deciding to stay was easy. I believe in our boys and it is important for the public of Counties Manukau that we achieve the results that I know we are capable of".
He has been joined by Taisina Tuifua who is returning to Counties Manukau after a season at Taranaki. Tuifua, a loose forward from the Pukekohe rugby club will certainly add a hard edge to the Steelers and decided to stay with his home union despite approaches from other teams including the new Melbourne super 15 franchise.
"It is important to stay in Counties Manukau as this is where my heart is and a season away made me realise how much this Union means to me so I am really looking forward to getting stuck in this year" said Tuifua.
Steelers Coach Milton Haig said "It is great that so many of the boys want to stay with us. Last year we had such a young side with players who had great potential so this year we will benefit from them staying and growing together under the guidance of some more experienced players".
