Great Rugby Road Trip hits Counties Manukau
Re-live the Rugby World Cup 2011 excitement when rugby's most treasured prizes, including the Webb Ellis Cup, will be in Counties Manukau as part of a massive road trip around the country celebrating rugby.
The event, dubbed The Great Rugby Road Trip, will showcase New Zealand rugby's prized trophies, including the Webb Ellis Cup, the Bledisloe Cup, IRB Women's Rugby World Cup and the IRB Junior World Championship Trophy.
The New Zealand Rugby Union and Counties Manukau Rugby Football Union are hosting two free family-friendly events to say ‘thank you for the support during RWC 2011. Locals will be able to have their photo taken with prized rugby silverware, while also taking the time to enjoy a range of fun and interactive rugby activities for the whole family including the Ruggerland bouncy castle and mascots Steely Dan and Rugger and the Ruggerbees.
The event will be supported by the rugby local clubs and will be an opportunity for those who are interested in playing rugby to register with their club.
Local people are encouraged and welcomed to the free road show at Massey Park, Papakura on Saturday 11 February from10am to 2pm and Sunday 12 February at Bayer Growers Stadium from 10am to 2pm.
The CMRFU Club and School forum will also be held at Bayer Growers Stadium on Sunday with a series of management and administrator workshops and coaching clinics including one by Chiefs coach Dave Rennie. A number of competitions will run during the Great Rugby Road Trip, including a chance to win one of forty Investec Super Rugby jerseys, as well as a massive All Blacks Test experience, including flights, accommodation and touchline seats at an All Blacks Test in 2012.

NZRU CEO, Steve Tew said "our support during the tournament came from all corners of New Zealand including people here in Counties Manukau so to be able to bring the Cup and all the other rugby activities to them is awesome," he said.
The 55 day Great Rugby Road Trip tour takes in more than 100 school visits, and includes 40 community events in towns around New Zealand and evening events at local rugby clubs throughout New Zealand from February to April.
