“Congratulations to Renee Wickliffe on being named in the 2009 Black Ferns Team to tour England later this year. Renee is worked hard throughout the season in order to make selection to the National Women’s Rugby Team. She is a proud member of Manurewa Women’s Rugby Team and also Counties Maori Women. This has been a fantastic year for Renee as earlier this year she represented New Zealand by attending the Dubai 7’s tournament. We wish Renee all the best in her preparation for the up and coming tour and are extremely proud of her!”

Northern Region Maori Tournament Results 2009
Counties Manukau Maori took part in the annual Northern Region Maori tournament hosted by North Harbour and played at Glenfield last weekend.
It was another successful tournament for the Counties Manukau Seniors who came second and have proven to be the most consistent union in the tournament having finished in the top three since 2001 with the exception of 2005 when they came fifth.
President and Jack Kani Senior Coach Jack Kani said "Counties Manukau Maori were happy with the result especially as they were bringing many of the younger players through". The senior team beat Waikato on Friday thanks to a last minute try by fullback Dylan Chatterton which was converted by Captain Sam Cole to give Counties Manukau the 15-14 victory.
On Saturday they lost to the tournament winners North Harbour lost 21-16. After having their halfback sent off in an assumption by the referee it turned the game at a crucial time when the Counties Manukau Maori were just starting to put the hosts under pressure. However after having to alter the player positions to accommodate being one man down the team never really recovered.
The Counties Manukau Colts drew both their games in the tournament. On the Friday they played North Harbour in a very physical game and came back form behind to draw the match 12 - all. On Saturday the Colts played big brother Auckland and drew 21-All which left Counties Manukau in fourth place on points count back.
The Counties Manukau Maori Women's team lost to Auckland on Friday and beat Waikato on Saturday to finish third.
