Counties Manukau Rugby Football Union are working towards an exciting goal and are very confident that they will pack Navigation Homes Stadium for their first 2019 Counties Manukau PIC Steelers home game against the Taranaki Bulls which kicks off at 4.35pm on Saturday, 10th August 2019.
If 8000 tickets to this first match are sold, ticket holders will get free entry to the remainder of the 2019 Counties Manukau PIC Steelers regular home games.
Counties Manukau Rugby Union believes that its five home games represent an ideal opportunity to bring the Counties Manukau community together and they trust that this initiative will encourage players, clubs, supporters, sponsors, administrators and the rest of the rugby community to generate an atmosphere full of energy and enthusiasm preceding, during and following on from the match.
There will be a march-past of our Counties Manukau junior clubs prior to the game as well as bouncy castles, musicians, sumo wrestling and other activities for the kids.
Many people will fondly remember when the community packed the stadium a few years ago to watch the Steelers’ Ranfurly Shield challenges. Counties Manukau Rugby want to recreate this atmosphere for its first game this season.
At the game on 10th August, the Union is also acknowledging and recognising the Steelers team that won the national provincial championship in 1979.
The chief executive officer of Counties Manukau Rugby Football Union, Barton Hoggard, noted that “Rugby plays an important part in our community and we are lucky to have a fantastic local club competition. The 2019 PIC Steelers team includes the best players from our local competition so we are hoping that the community gets out in large numbers to support its team. With tickets starting as low as $7.50, we invite all people near and far to join us in packing the park.”
See you on August 10th.
