Each secondary school in the Counties Manukau region has a Teacher in Charge (TIC) of rugby. This person is responsible for recruiting and retaining players, administering rugby within the school and liasing with the Counties Manukau Rugby Football Union (CMRFU)

Many of our schools have joined the Auckland Secondary School competition. This has been great in terms of providing a wider variety of oppositions ensuring players get a valuable experience.

1st XV Premier Competition

 

This year 6 teams will compete for supremacy in the COUNTIES MANUKAU PREMIER Competition. The 6 teams are

 

Pukekohe High School

Waiuku College

Papakura High School

Manurewa High School

Alfriston College

Rosehill College

 

The competition will kick off on the 8th of June. In recent results, Pukekohe Managed to topple Manurewa High School and Rosehill College in what were both very tough matches. Papakura High managed to pip Waiuku College so there is sure to be some very good contests in the grade this year.

 

Why are Wesley College not in the competition?

 

Wesley play in the CNI (Central North Island) Competition. They are the incumbent champions having won last year in a nail biter of a final against Fielding High School. Teams in the CNI competition

Chiefs Cup and Trophy Competitions

 

Each year since 2012, the Chiefs franchise host a 4 week long competition for the premier 1st XV’s from around the Chiefs region. Hamilton Boys, Rotorua Boys High School and Wesley are hot favourites to win it and this year Wesley managed to beat Rotorua in the Cup Final to win it!

 

In the Trophy division Pukekohe beat Rosehill in the final to take it out. This is the first time we managed to get 3 teams into the finals of the Chiefs Cup / Trophy tournaments
