Keri Maihi (President) addressed Manurewa RFC AGM with a nomination to award Life Membership to Andrew Talaimanu of Manurewa RFC for is outstanding contribution and long standing service.

Keri goes on to acknowledge his history, starting his coaching career in 1999.  2000 and 2001 Andrew coached the Steelers. He played 49 games for Counties. In 2002 MRFC experienced some hard times, but Andrew came on board to bring the club back to life.  In 2003, Andrew was instrumental in developing a new strategic plan that is still activity in place now.  His contribution on the committee has been huge by mucking in with every possible job. 2016, Andrew is on the Advisory Board and offers his sound rugby knowledge to the management committee. Keri acknowledged, Andrew’s daughter Renee who is now secretary and his son Connor who is chasing his blazer game and back involved.  Both hold the same values as Andrew.

Andrew was quite surprised and was honoured as he gracefully accepted Life Membership. He made a heartfelt speech and ended with a Pat Walsh quote;

"When they decide your time is up and they run you out of town, smile and look happy, throw up your hands with joy! Then everyone watching will think you're leading the parade."
