Rainbow’s End Counties Manukau & Waikato 1st XV Secondary Schools – Round One

Round One of the Rainbow’s End Counties Manukau & Waikato 1st XV Secondary Schools competition kicked off on Saturday.

There were a few big results, with a couple of very close matches.

Manurewa High School 1st XV came away with a 46-29 victory over their Counties Manukau rivals, Rosehill College at Manurewa High.

At Alfriston College, Cambridge High picked up the win 29-12.

It was incredibly close between Pukekohe High School and Matamata College at Pukekohe High. It was a pretty quiet second half until Pukekohe scored a fantastic try to go ahead 15-11 with a couple of minutes to go, but Matamata College struck back and clinched a 16-15 victory right on full time. Matamata College also won the Deon Muir 1st XV Challenge Trophy and they will put it on the line against St Johns at home this weekend.

St Johns proved too good for their fellow Waikato rivals Te Awamutu College, coming away with a 58-0 victory.

Te Awamutu College 1st XV vs Manurewa HS 1st XV - Te Awamutu College 1
