Rugby hitting the road

Counties Manukau Rugby’s Rugby Smart Roadshow is set to take place next week and local players, coaches, managers and referees are encouraged to take part.

Rugby Smart is a world-leading injury prevention programme and since its inception in 2001 it has seen significant drops in rugby-related injury claims. It is a comprehensive approach that is about keeping players where coaches and supporters want them: on the field, contributing to a successful team operating in a safe environment.

CMRFU staff will facilitate four work stations covering the key areas of Team Coaching, Rugby Safety and provide clarity on the NEW Law Variations with local REO Brandon Roberts.

In addition the sessions will address coaching the offload and keeping the ball alive, preparing our players for contact, tackle & ball carry activities, breakdown & scrum safety, concussion & injury management.

The sessions will take place on Monday March 21 at Pukekohe Rugby Club, on Wednesday March 23 at Karaka Rugby Club, on Monday March 28 at Waiuku Rugby Club and on Wednesday March 30 at Manurewa Rugby Club.
