Small Blacks

Course Information:

The Small Blacks courses are a fantastic tool for any coach involved in junior rugby. There will be lots of activities and drills to take away as well as some great tips on how to establish a strong team environment. All you have to do is turn up and the Counties Manukau Development staff will take care of the rest (No pre regristration process required for the course)

Course Content: 

All first year coaches are advised to attend the 'How to Coach' and 'Building a Positive Team Environment' sessions plus their age grade specific content. This will be a great hep in shaping their season. This will be presented upon arrival at the course 

Key topics; How to Coach, Building a Positive Team Environment, Preparing for Contact, Rip Rugby, Rugby Safety in the Contact areas and more.

Coach Registration Process:

  1. Contact your local club or register on their Sporty Website 
  2. When registered, you will be required to complete the online Rugby Smart quiz (Rugby Safety) 
  3. Once you have completed the quiz, you must then attend a practical course. See course dates below

Polivce Vetting Process:

Coaches are required to bring the following forms of ID along to the course

  1. A driver license
  2. And anyone of the following secondary ID’s (Firearms license, NZ Passport, Birth Certificate)

What to bring:

  • Water
  • Appropriate clothing for a light training session on the field
  • Jacket if wet (please dress for the weather)
