The squad will prepare for the National Jock Hobbs Memorial U19 Tournament to be held in Taupo from 14th- 21st September.

Their campaign will also include pre-season games against North Harbour, Northland, and Auckland. As well as national seeding games against Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Taranaki U19 teams. Followed by the week-long national tournament in Taupo.

The tournament is a platform for the selectors to view players eligible for the NZ Under-20s team.

Counties currently have 2 players, Orbyn Leger and Jonathan Taumatiene, playing for New Zealand at the U20 Junior World Cup in Manchester, after fine performances at last year’s tournament.

The JRWC tournament will be held in Georgia next year and the tournament is an opportunity for young players to stake a claim towards selection for the 2017, New Zealand Under-20 team.

Training will begin on Monday 13th June and Wednesday 16th June at the Drury Training Base, 6:30 p.m. Players need to bring indoor, as well as outdoor training gear.

Players need to contact Nick Leger- 0212781102 - nick.leger@steelers.co.nz or Manager- Glenn Flavell - 0273338061- glenn.flavell@coutdown.co.nz  if they have any issues or questions.

Congratulations and we look forward to your attendance.
