Members to vote on new structure of club game

Counties Manukau Rugby’s members are set to vote on a new constitution that will change the way club rugby is governed in the region at a special meeting next month.

After months of work, a new proposed constitution was sent out to clubs and members on Tuesday with new board policies and a board transition plan.

The proposal calls for a special general meeting to be held at Navigation Homes Stadium on Monday 30 October to vote on the changes.

If passed, it will see the Council of Delegates (which has run club rugby for the past couple of decades) disbanded and replaced by a new Community Rugby Committee of seven people, including CMRFU Head of Communitry Rugby Matt Megaw.

The proposed changes will give the Union more of an influence on the rules and regulations around club rugby – something they haven’t had under the CODs system.
