Wellington Pride pinch the win in Farah Palmer Cup action

The Counties Power Heat have been pipped at the post by the Wellington Pride with the home side snatching a narrow 26-25 Farah Palmer Cup win after the siren in the capital.

The Heat had dominated much of the game and held a 25-21 lead as the hooter sounded but Wellington were able to conjure up a miracle try to Harmony Ioane well after the clock ticked past 80 minutes.

“Tough result today, where we were able to control large parts of the game through solid set piece and territory,” coach JP Faamausili said.

“Critical errors and the inability to put Wellington away, especially when they were down two players, kept them in the game.

“Whilst we are disappointed with the result, we are still improving as a team each week and look forward to taking on Auckland Storm next Friday.”

Having dropped their opening match of the season to Canterbury, Counties Manukau has bounced back with two impressive wins before their narrow loss on Saturday.

They lie fourth on the table.

The Counties Power Heat are now gearing up to play host to the Auckland Storm this coming Friday, 13th of August at Navigation Homes Stadium. The match is a double header with the PIC Steelers who will play North Harbour at 7:05pm. Match tickets available here: https://bit.ly/2X1y7yJ
