Coaches Corer with Tai Lavea - Northland to Manawatu

Even though results haven’t gone our way we are extremely proud of the effort and intent from the players.

There is no getting around the fact that the first three weeks have been disappointing results-wise, but the group are preparing well week to week to ensure we are putting our best foot forward to get the performance we are after.

We played into breeze in the first half against Northland last week but tactically we got there and did what we needed to do. We still made a few errors but we were in good shape. At halftime the energy was quite high, there were a lot of positive messages from the coaching staff, and the players were really focussed.

It was just those moments of truth and in the first 10 minutes after halftime we just needed to nail it, so there are some hard lessons for us, but a lot of good learnings for coaches and senior players to align, review and implement into our working week for Manawatu.

The good thing is we have a shorter turn-around for today’s game against Manawatu - preparation has gone well and we have really focussed on ourselves and are hoping to take the lessons from the previous week into this week.

The management and players are working hard, and we want to deliver a performance that our fans and families can be proud of.
