Counties Power Club Rugby Finals Preview – July 23

DateThu, 21 Jul 2016

It’s hard to believe how quickly the Counties Power Club Rugby Finals have crept up on us. With senior rugby starting back in early March, we’ve had 18 weeks of competitive and enjoyable rugby.

Our finalists have been whittled down and we would like to say congratulations to all teams and clubs who will be involved on Saturday.

Bombay Gough Cat are going for their third straight McNamara Cup Premier title. However, it won’t be an easy feat as they are up against Ardmore Marist South Auckland Motors who have had an impressive last couple of months in the Premier competition. They have won their last nine matches.

The McNamara Cup final kicks off at 2:45pm at ECOLight Stadium 1. Counties Power Commercial Manager, Andrew Toop, will present the McNamara Cup to the winning team.

In the Sid Marshall Shield Premier final, Patumahoe Hotel take on Onewhero Counties Bulk Haulage/Carters at 1:00pm at ECOLight Stadium 1. Patumahoe winger Violeti Kolo pulled his hamstring against Ardmore Marist a couple of weekend’s ago, so he’s 50/50 at this stage, but other than that it’s status quo for Patumahoe. Onewhero’s injuries aren’t too bad, with second five-eighth Nathan Langsford and halfback Richard Judd nursing little niggles. They’ll know at the end of the week whether those players will be available or not.

In the Bob Chandler Memorial Premier Reserve final, Karaka take on Ardmore Marist Harcourt’s at 1:00pm at ECOLight Stadium 2.

Patumahoe Hutton Builders face Manurewa in the Bill Marsh Cup Premier Reserve final at 11:00am, also at ECOLight Stadium 2.

Expect a great battle in the Massey Cup Under 21 final between defending champions Pukekohe and Patumahoe Albycon Ltd. That match will be played at Colin Lawrie Field 1 at 1:00pm.

And in the Under 85kg final, Patumahoe Pak ‘N’ Save will look to go unbeaten for the entire season as they take on Ardmore Marist Harcourt’s at Patumahoe at 1:00pm.

Good luck to all involved in Saturday’s Counties Power Club Rugby finals!
