Malimali earns Super Rugby deal with Chiefs

Counties Manukau and Karaka flyer Peniasi Malimali has been given a Chiefs contract for the 2023 Super Rugby season with squads announced Wednesday.

Malimali, who enjoyed a stand-out season with the PIC Steelers, joins teammate Etene Nanai-Seturo in the Chiefs squad.

Malimali made his debut with the PIC Steelers in early 2021 but became a key attacking weapon for coach Reon Graham this year and endeared himself to fans with his speed and agility and his willingness to express himself – best captured with the dying of his hair against Wellington to raise money for breast cancer.

The Counties Manukau trio of All Blacks are all with the Blues again – Hoskins Sotutu, Dalton Papali’i and Nepo Laulala all confirmed for a return next season.

PIC Steelers Player of the Year Cameron Roigard returns to the Hurricanes for another season as well.
