Change brings new opportunities for staff at Counties Manukau Rugby

Counties Manukau Rugby has made a number of staffing appointments heading into the 2023 season.

With Head of High Performance Chad Shepherd making an exciting move to the Blues Super Rugby franchise some changes have been made with Pete Shaw stepping up from his strength and conditioning focus to take charge of Women’s High Performance role for the Union.

Richie Harris meanwhile is largely stepping away from his Coaching Development role (HP focus) and the PIC Steelers’ Assistant Coaching position and will now manage the Union’s men’s academy.

Jed Knox will remain as Head of Strength and Conditioning with further appointments to be made to sit under him, including a Women’s Pathway Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Meanwhile in the Community team Counties Energy Heat player Leititia Vaka has joined as Girls Activator while Shannon Cossey takes over as Marketing and Communications Manager.

“It is great to see our people furthering themselves in accordance with our belief of growing, empowering and inspiring people through rugby,” chief executive Aaron Lawton said.

“I am very pleased that we have been able to largely promote from within when replacing staff that have moved on.

“It shows that we are developing, and I am excited about the team that we have here.”
