VACANCY - CMRFU Rugby Development Officer

Counties Manukau Rugby Football Union (CMRFU) is looking for a rugby development officer to join its nationally recognised community rugby team.

The main objective of CMRFU’s community rugby team is to increase the number of players and coaches involved in rugby in the Counties Manukau region through the organisation, co-ordination and delivery of rugby products and programmes within schools and clubs across the region.  The team also delivers courses and upskilling sessions for rugby coaches in our schools and clubs.

Our rugby development officers facilitate relationships between our clubs and schools to ensure a seamless transition for players to progress between school and club rugby. 

CMRFU is the guardian of our national provincial teams (the Steelers and the Heat) as well as community rugby in the Counties Manukau region.  Counties has a storied history involving several iconic legends of the game such as Jonah Lomu, Joeli Vidiri, Tana Umaga, Sonny Bill Williams, Bruce Robertson and Andy Dalton.  Out focus is to build on this history to establish ourselves as one of the leading rugby unions in the country.

CORE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

This role will require the following key skills and experience:

Education:

Sports Management, Teaching and/or Coaching Qualification. Indeally, Level 5 NZQA Framework and/or IRB Level 2 Coaching.

Experience: 

At least five years experience in sports management, teaching and/or coaching.

Language Requirements: 

English (strong written and verbal skills).

Specific Knowledge/Skills: 

Understanding the club and school rugby environment.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.

Competent computer skills.

Personal Qualities:                  

A positive, enthusiastic and collaborative attitude.
